Lawsuits are not new to Apple. In Oct, AppleInsider reported the story of a couple that had filed a claim regarding wi-fi issues.
Today, a proposed class action was filed against Apple Inc in federal court in California claiming that a defect in certain iPhone models caused them to eat up excessive amounts of cellular data, leading to massive bills for users.
The complaint, filed Thursday by plaintiffs’ firm Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, alleges that Apple violated California consumer-protection laws and seeks to certify a nationwide class of AT&T wireless subscribers who owned an iPhone 5 or 5s running on Apple operating systems iOS 6 and 7.
“Apple failed to report or fix this defect for years, leaving hundreds of thousands of iPhone users racking up month after month of data overage charges,” Hagens Berman managing partner Steve Berman said. “We believe Apple should not have withheld this repair for any period of time, and seek to make these affected consumers whole.”
