Foreign news reports quoting informed sources said that Apple has set up a laboratory in northern Taiwan Longtan area. Apple is engaged in the development of new devices such as the iPhone and iPad screen. Apple has recruited about 50 engineers and other employees for this new facility . Informed sources say that Apple is hoping to develop a lighter, thinner, more energy-efficient product, more advanced than the current iPhone, ipad and iMac using a OLED display version. Reporteldly, this site will focus on research around making better screens for the next generation iOS devices.
Apple has recruited from local display maker AU Optronics Corp. and Qualcomm Inc., which used to own the building, the people said. This used to be the old Qualcomm’s IMOD Mirasol display lab.
Apple declined to comment. This was reported in local newspapers and Bloomberg also carried an article this week on this news.
