We live in a society where the focus is always on the next big thing. Granted there was much disappointment over the iPhone 4S that was released instead of the much anticipated iPhone 5. Shocking as it may have been few can convincingly argue that the 4S was not released with a lot of great new and improved features. Sadly as great as the features are rumors and anticipation is already building up for the release of the 5th generation smartphone.
By all indications this will not happen before June of 2012 and perhaps we would not see this happen until 2013 even. There seems to be much certainty though about a 2012 launch date since Apple is rumored and even confirmed that work has begun on the 5th generation smartphone some time ago.
There have been much speculation about why Apple released the 4S instead of the much talked about iPhone 5. One such rumor is that it was impossible for the engineers to integrate the 4G LTE chipsets into the ultra slim teardrop design of the new iPhone 5. This seems a plausible explanation for the rationale behind the delay of the release. Until the company gets its hands on the smaller chipsets which are said to have enhanced capabilities the release of the 5th generation phone has to be delayed. What it means is that the iPhone 5 is purported to have even faster data transfer speeds.
Another reason that the release of the iPhone 5 has been delayed according to speculations is due to the current contracts that Apple has with mobile carriers. By delaying the release until their existing contracts expire will give them greater bargaining power when the time comes around to signing new contracts.
If any one of these speculations prove to be correct it would mean that we could definitely expect to see the iPhone 5 in stores in 2012. When? Most techies believe it could happen after the first quarter but it could be as late as fall 2012 considering the fact that its predecessors have been launched in the fall as well.
The majority of the speculations point to the second quarter of 2012 for the release even summer 2012 if the rumors that the delivery for the 4G Lite chips are almost ready hold true. Launching in the summer is not customary for Apple especially due to the fact that summer is not a good time to the sales of tech gadgets.
Whenever it may be I believe that Apple has made a smart choice for delaying its release. They have put a lot of thought into building their solid reputation for quality products. They make sure that their products are well tested and they understandably do not cave into the consumer demands and release a product before it is ready to be released.
In the meantime the iPhone 4S comes packed with a lot of great features and it you’re hungry for an upgrade then you can certainly enjoy the features of this phone for many months to come.
