Display Photo Slideshow using your iPad

To display a slideshow, you have to have some photos.  You can take the photos from your iPad camera or you can transfer photos from your computer to your iPad via iTunes.

1. Tap on “Photos” from your Home screen.

2. Display your photos in Gallery mode. If you are in a single photo mode, you can switch to gallery mode by clicking on “All Photos”.

3. While in gallery mode, tap on “Slideshow”.  This will bring up the slideshow options dialog, where you can set the type of slideshow transitions (which includes dissolve, cube, ripple, wave, and origami).  You can set it to have music on no music.

4.  Tap the “Start Slideshow” button and the slideshow will start.

5. You might be surprised that the slideshow will stop when they reached the last photo.  That is because you have to set “repeat” on.  Do this by going to “Settings” from the Home screen.  Then tap on “Photos” and set the slider for “Repeat” to “On”.  You can also turn shuffle on and adjust the duration of each photo.

The slideshow is great when you are sharing and showing someone your photos.  But you should not use it as a digital picture frame by standing it up on the desk of your office for example.  This is because anyone can simply press the Home button to abort the slideshow and they would be at the Home screen of you iPad with access to your emails and other data.

Instead, use the digital picture frame app instead.  When a user aborts that digital picture frame app by pressing the Home button, they will end up in the “Slide to Unlock” screen.  And if you have set a password, then they would need to know the password before being able to access your iPad.
