FaceTime for Mac: Can’t Sign In

Several users have reported an issue in which they cannot sign into FaceTime for Mac OS X. In these cases, either no sign in screen ever appears, or the sign in process spins endlessly and never progresses. Other users may receive the message “There was a problem with FaceTime. You need to quit and open FaceTime again”

Potential fixes

In some cases, this issue can be resolved by deleting the file:

  • /Library/LaunchAgents and deleted the com.apple.imagent.plist

(the tilde [ ] represents your home user folder)

Other users have reported that (if you’re using an Apple email address), username@mac.com may work while username@me.com does not.
