Some of these tips may be too basic for most of you, but there’s bound to be a few people out there who haven’t heard them. Most of these tip and tricks are not widely known. We’ve compiled a list of helpful/useful tricks found in iOS.
- Shake your iPhone or iPad to “Undo Typing”. This is a very useful tip if you’ve typed in something you’d like to undo when editing / entering text on your iOS device.
- You could not send an iMessage? Press and hold the message and you will get an option to send it as a text message.
- You can take a screenshot with your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, simply press the Home and Sleep buttons at the same time. The screenshot image will go into your camera roll.
- When you open your Mail app, you will see around 4-5 emails (without scrolling) on an iPhone. If you like to see more, just tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Preview and select None. By turning Preview off, you will be able to see around 8-10 emails at once.
- You can take a photo with the iPhone volume button. Just open your camera app and use value controls (value up or down) to activate the camera shutter and take a picture.
- You can easily have fancy email signatures instead of “Send from my iPad” or “Send from my iPhone”. Just create a fancy signature using HTML elements. The copy and paste. See this article: How to create fancy signatures on your iPhone and iPad
- You can easily access your Drafts in the Mail app. Simple launch Mail, press and hold on the compose (or new mail/message) button to open your drafts that you have previously saved.
- In mobile Safari, you can enter a URL extension (e.g., com, net, edu, org etc) by tapping and holding on the period key (or dot) until you see the shortcuts.
- In mobile Safari, pressing and holding the back button will bring up your history.
- Do you want to enable CAPS LOCK on your device? Tapping the Shift key twice will turn on the Caps Lock function on your iPhone or iPad.
- You can force-quit multiple apps simultaneously. Just double press the home button, and using two or three finders, swipe up on the apps at the same time to dismiss them.
- In Messages, if you swipe to the left in a message, you can see timestamps.
- You can teach Siri, If Siri pronounces your name wrong, launch Siri and just say “You pronounce my name wrong”.
- You can change Siri’s voice (male of female) by going to Settings > General > Siri > Voice Gender.
