It’s unbelievable how difficult Apple makes logging into your iCloud.com account from your iPhone or iDevice. I mean this is their service, so why make it so challenging?
Currently, when you open any browser, including Safari, the only options we see are: Set up iCloud on this device, Open Find My iPhone, and Open Find My Friends.
So where the heck is the option to sign and login to iCloud.com? And why is there no login option?

Can I log into my iCloud on my iPhone?
It’s quite easy to log into iCloud.com using any web browser on your computer (PC or mac.) But not so for Apple’s iPhone and mobile iDevices. Apparently, Apple sees no real reason to log into your iCloud account from your iOS device as you already have access to all of your iCloud account’s content on your iOS device. 
As mentioned, Apple’s did not design the iCloud.com website for mobile devices. But with Apple products, there are always workarounds. And luckily, we have a couple of those up our sleeves here at Apple ToolBox!
The Mobile iCloud Login Work Around!
You work around this by accessing iCloud.com on your iPad, iPhone, or another iOS device by using a browser feature called “Request Desktop Site.”
For some reason, using browsers OTHER than Safari consistently allow you quick access to the iCloud.com site. So if space permits, download a new browser to your iPhone or another iDevice.
Chrome, Firefox, Opera, or Mercury are good choices. There are other browsers as well, just check out the app store for your browser options–and be sure to look at reviews first.
The Super Quick Method To Access The iCloud Login Screen From an iDevice
Both Safari and Firefox have this option. To quickly request the desktop version of iCloud or any other site, tap and hold the Refresh symbol in the browser’s URL address bar (for Safari) or at screen bottom (for Firefox.)
Pressing and holding Refresh brings up a quick action menu with the option to Request Desktop Site. Select that button, and it takes you to the desktop version of iCloud.
The downside of Request Desktop Site is that it is not responsive to mobile device screens, meaning that you need to scroll around your device’s screen to adjust the screen’s layout. For some, it may even be may be too small to read.
If you find this is the case for you, touch your screen to zoom and scroll as needed.
Seeing a Welcome Screen Instead?
If the refresh method presents a welcome URL rather than the iCloud browser login screen, try another URL refresh by tapping and holding the Refresh symbol in the browser’s URL address bar.
This action should bring up the iCloud’s browser login page.
So Why Even Bother to log in to iCloud.com?
Your iCloud account contains what’s most important to you in your mobile life. Things like your contacts, Files app or iCloud drive, photos, notes, reminders, calendar, mail, and most importantly your backups.
And iCloud shares this information across all of your devices, including iDevices and your computers.
By logging into iCloud.com, you view and change any information you have stored in your iCloud account. When you sign in to iCloud.com from a browser, you are also able to check multiple iCloud accounts.
And while logged into iCloud.com, you can use any of the iCloud.com apps, and any changes or updates you make are automatically stored and up-to-date on all your connected devices.
When you log in to iCloud.com, you check both iCloud accounts that are linked and not linked to your iPhone and other iDevices.
Since iDevices allow only ONE iCloud account (and Apple ID) to connect to your device, using this browser-based method to access your iCloud accounts lets you move photos and other information between accounts!
But Apple does not make checking our iCloud accounts on our iPhones and iDevices mobile browsers easy!
Additional Techniques to Login to iCloud.com
I’ll outline a couple more choices below. These steps work for most browsers. Just remember that Safari is inconsistent in allowing access to iCloud.com.
Chrome: How to access iCloud.com
- Open Chrome
- Visit https://www.icloud.com/
- Tap on the Settings Menu (3 dots on screen right)
- Select “Request Desktop Site” from the menu options
- If the desktop version doesn’t appear, re-enter i.cloud.com in the web address bar
- Login to iCloud.com desktop version with your Apple ID as you usually do
Mercury Browser: How to access iCloud.com
- Launch Mercury
- Visit https://www.icloud.com/
- Tap on Settings (the three lines at screen bottom menu bar)
- Select User Agent icon
- Choose User Agent as Safari(Mac OSX)
- Type icloud.com in the web address bar
- A message may appear warning you that this is an unsupported browser
- Select Ignore
- Login to iCloud.com desktop version with your Apple ID as you usually do
Safari Browser: How to access iCloud.com
- Open Safari
- Visit https://www.icloud.com/
- Tap on the Share button in the lower menu bar
- Swipe the bottom menu options (starts with Add to Favorites)
- Select “Request Desktop Site.”
- You may need to repeat step 3 again to get the desktop site
- Results are inconsistent
- Login to iCloud.com desktop version with your Apple ID as you usually do

Summary
Using browsers other than Safari on your iDevice makes the iCloud server think you are accessing iCloud.com from a desktop Mac. And that is what lets you log in to iCloud.com!
The biggest advantage of signing into iCloud.com from a browser is that you can check multiple iCloud accounts. AND you can check accounts linked and not linked to your iPhone and other iDevices.
Since iDevices allow only ONE iCloud account (and Apple ID) to connect to your device, using a browser to access your iCloud accounts helps you to move photos and other information between accounts!
Whatever browser you use, it does not remember the Request Desktop setting for iCloud. So the next time you want to visit, you need to again request the desktop version since the mobile version is always the default.
