Microsoft Releases Xbox Live app For iOS

With the release of the latest Xbox 360 dashboard update, Microsoft has released a new iOS app. The My Xbox Live app for iOS was unexpectedly released on December 7, 2011.

Microsoft has always had an Xbox live app for their Windows Phone 7 devices. This app allows users to stay in touch with their Xbox live friends via sending messages and viewing the games they’re currently playing.

The Xbox Live app also lets Xbox Live members customize their Live avatars. A Live user can change his or her Avatar’s clothes, accessories and facial expressions. A user can also interact with his or her avatar by touching the screen.

Lastly, the My Xbox Live app gives you the latest Xbox news by giving you access to Xbox Spotlight feeds. This is great if you like to stay on top of gaming news when you’re not at your Xbox 360 console.

The My Xbox Live app boasts the Windows Phone 7 “metro” style design. This includes horizontal navigation and abnormally large text. The app also features Windows Phone 7 style icons.

While this app is cool, it’s look may not appeal to everyone. It seems like this app was created to market Windows Phone 7 to iOS users, as using this app gives you the same look and feel as if you were using a Windows Phone device.

Will this marketing scheme work? IPhone fans may be doubtful. Nevertheless, this is still a cool app for Xbox Live enthusiasts! This app is free in the iTunes App Store
