iTunes 10: “iPodService Module (32-bit) has encountered a problem and needs to close”

Some Windows users have reported receiving the error message “iPodService Module (32-bit) has encountered a problem and needs to close” after updating to iTunes 10.

Fix

This problem can generally be resolved via the following procedure:

1. Downgrade to iTunes 9.2.1


2. Copy the folder Program Files\iPod to a safe location (such as your desktop)


3. Reinstall iTunes 10. Ignore any iPod Service errors you receive.


4. Replace the new folder at Program Files\iPod with the one you previously saved (the version installed by iTunes 9.2.1)


5. Relaunch iTunes 10
