How To Disable Galaxy S6 Camera Quick Launch (Home Button Shortcut)

Samsung has been really focused on the camera on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. Both flagship devices provide unrivaled photo and video quality, especially in low-light conditions, thanks to the all new f/1.9 lens on the main and front-facing camera.

The sensor is 16 MP, the same as on the Galaxy S5. But mega pixels mean nothing and the Galaxy S6 is able of proving it. All captured images are crystal clear and the main camera can record better and higher-quality slow motion videos. However, Samsung has made improvements to the camera not only hardware but also software-wise.

Android 5.0 Lollipop provides much better photo quality thanks to all new Lollipop camera APIs, offering better picture processing and less noise on low light ambient. On the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, Samsung has added a shortcut to quickly launch the camera app. By simply double clicking the home button you will be able to access the camera app. The double-click home button shortcut was previously taken by S Voice.

Having the ability to quickly launch the camera app by clicking the home button twice is a nice thing to have, however it can get annoying for many users. First of all, this feature adds a delay between the moment when the home button is pressed and when the phone actually goes to the home screen. Furthermore, this can lead to accidentally launching the camera app when the user has no intention of taking pictures.

Fortunately, the Quick Launch camera option can be easily disabled.  The option lies in the camera settings, which you might have missed it.

  1. Launch the camera app and tap the Gears icon located at the top right hand corner of the screen.

  2. Camera Settings menu will open. Scroll down to “Quick Launch” and disable the option.

  3. Additionally, you go to Phone Settings > Applications > Camera and disable Quick Launch from there.

That is all you have to do in order to disable to Quick Launch camera shortcut on your device.
