Top 3 Golf Games for iPhone iPad (2016 Edition)

Golf has been played on computers for over three decades now. It started in the days of EGA and CGA monitors and has now arrived in the world of smartphones. There are quite a lot of golf games on Apple’s App Store: some are free while others are fairly cheap. These are great games to pass the time with and contest with your friends, especially if you are unable to visit the greens on a regular basis.

We have shortened the list down to three golf games that you are sure to enjoy. These games boast some very real looking features on the course like trees, grass and the challenges of the wind and terrain. Golf remains to be a traditional computer or mobile game because it is not a complicated game.

It is called a ‘one button’ game because you just need a button or touch in the case of smartphones to aim. These games don’t require multiple fingers that many of the modern games need. Or you may simply call it, a perfect game for a lazy person.

Just needing a finger to touch does not make it all that easy. It is all about timing and a flick or tap on the screen; that determines your success. Additionally, you have the wind, terrain to battle with and carefully position your ball according to that.

Here are the three golf games you should try playing on your iPhone if you cant take yourself to the greens on a regular basis!

WGT Golf Mobile

WGT is easily the number one choice for golf games for your iPhone. Why? It is very realistic, challenging and costs nothing. You can get the game essentially for free. Also, it has online multiplayer support. WGT Gold Marque makes money from real world sponsors in online events. It also sells credit which can be used to buy branded equipment, some of which can even make your game better.

The best part of the game is its courses which are nearly the same as a real course. The developers and the designers of this game went to crazy lengths to achieve this realness. They photographed each hole of each course from hundreds of different angles. The terrain of the game is kept realistically near the actual course through mapping it to within an inch of the real course. This makes sure that the ball is displayed on the screen realistically. The lighting and shades of the golf course is an added plus to bring it as close to reality as possible.

All of these images reside on a server and are streamed to your phone when you play them, so the actual size of the game does not even include these high-quality images. But for this reason, you will need a good Wi-Fi or 4G connection. Slow bandwidth will not really let you enjoy the game.

What else you can do? You can choose to play through different courses, take on monthly challenges and play with random opponents online. The only downsides are that it is not easy to reposition the aim on the UI, and the brightness tends to get dim if the opponent takes time. Except this, everything is great about the game giving you a pleasant playing experience.

Pro Feel Golf

Pro Feel Golf is one of those games where numbers play a significant role. Developers use this to keep some features free while others are only to be paid for. Pro Feel Golf uses a similar strategy, but it also includes some social media actions. It also has a female coach to guide you in your first hours of play. If you like your games to look and feel good, Pro Feel Golf is the game for you.

The virtual courses are designed to be very detail oriented. However, they are not very close to real courses. Since they are virtual, you can aim anywhere without much difficulty. Everything is rendered in real time while you play. A great feature in this game is an innovative shot interface. Dragging back on the ball shows you the arc your ball will hit. You can keep your thumb pressed and adjust the arc by moving it. Release your thumb and set the time as to when the ball should reach the size of the green circle in the UI. It will be a little difficult to understand this mechanism without playing. You will understand it well and find it excellent when you play it.

It offers daily challenges and career modes. It offers multi-player play, but it is not real timed, which is probably one of the downsides of the game. If you have been playing golf in real life, then this is the game for you.

Gold Star

This is another great golf game to be played on your iPhone. It offers a satisfying experience and a practical course that makes your shots as close to real as possible. The surrounding furniture of the game is a bit disappointing, though. It makes it difficult to navigate and take a balanced approach. The tokens, coins, hearts, power-up boosters and experience points make it a bit complicated to understand your place and your scores. It seems like the developers of this game must have done a lot of money through these features that are otherwise not so necessary.

The game provides real-time tournaments which are a fun part of the match. However, again it can get complicated. Nonetheless, it is a great game of golf and with a little time playing it, you will be able to understand the ecosystem this game has. If it were simpler, it would probably be the number one choice for golf games.

Besides these three games, there are numerous other games as well, but these three are our top selection based on the interface, features, and the overall player experience. You might like one game better than the others, but you will only find that out on trying them all.

That’s all for now! Happy Playing!
