If you ever wanted to annotate your attachments in Mail before sending the files, you can now do it directly from your Mail app on your Mac or your iOS device. You can also use the new Mail Drop feature to send large files via your Mail app. Mail Drop is a nice alternative if you are not using third party software such as DropBox.
In this article, we will show you how to mark up a Message and subsequently send it via mail drop. The first section of this article will focus on using the feature on your Mac running El Capitan and the second section will show you how to use mark up on your iOS devices such as an iPad running iOS 9.2. In order to use the Mail Drop functionality you will need to use your iCloud account.
Using Mark up with El Capitan
Step->1
Create a new message on your Mail App. For Annotating purposes, you can use an image or a pdf. Drag the image to your message window. Please make sure that the Image Size is set to “Actual Size” in order to allow you to mark up. You can find this setting on the right hand side of the field Message Size.

Open the built in mark-up tool in Mail by clicking on the little drop down arrow on the right hand top corner of your image.

Now you can mark up on the image by free sketching or also include a sample signature. once you have completed the Markup , press “Done”.
That’s it. With 3 Simple steps, you can now easily markup an image by adding sketched, texts etc and send it out via your email.
In order to send large attachments via MailDrop feature in Mail, make sure that you are signed into iCloud in System Preferences. Next, please go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Advanced and then enable your MailDrop by check marking as shown below.

Now that you have enabled the MailDrop feature, when you are trying to send a huge file as an attachment, Mail will activate this feature. If the attachment is greater than 20MB, Mail will use Mail Drop to send attachments to Apple’s servers. if the recipient has OS X Yosemite or El Capitan, the attachments will download automatically.
Using Markup on iOS
Using Markup is pretty simple on your iPad or iPhone’s mail app. Create a new email message and then attach an image or attachment. Once the image/attachment is dropped in the main body of the email, tap on the image once. You will see the “Markup” option. Clicking it will open the image in a markup panel so that you can sketch /write comments or add your signatures. Once you have completed, you can press “Done” and your image is ready to be send.
In iOS, You can also attach a large file from your iCloud Drive account by clicking on the attachment icon as shown in the screenshot above. You can also attach by clicking on the “Add Attachment” link on the top.
