iOS 8 continuity calling not working? Fix

You may use your iPhone’s cellular connection to make or receive phone calls on your iPad, iPod touch (or soon on your Mac). This article outlines the troubleshooting steps to fix iPhone Cellular Calling (continuity) issues. Possible error messages:


“iPhone Not Available”


“iPhone Calls Not Available. Your iPhone must be on the same Wi-Fi network as this iPad to Make a call”


Follow these steps if you are having similar problems:


First, verify that you have the followings:



  • This continuity calling feature is available on iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad (4th generation), iPad Air

    iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display, iPod touch (5th generation).

  • Your iOS devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network.

  • Your iOS devices need to use iOS 8 or later.

  • Verify that Wi-Fi calling is off (Settings > Phone > Wi-Fi Calling)


Then try these tips. Repeat these with all of your devices:



  • Verify that iPhone Cellular Calls setting is enabled (Settings > FaceTime)

  • Tap General Settings > FaceTime, turn off ‘iPhone Cellular Calls’ off and on again.

  • Restart your device.


If you are still having issues:



  • Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and back on again.

  • Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and Tap and Forget this Network. Then reconnect.

  • Restart your Wi-Fi router

  • Reset your network settings by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings

  • Tap Settings > iCloud, then tap sign Out and Sign in.
