If you are an iTunes user that loves Internet radio, read on! Internet radio stations are a popular way to find new music on the Internet. iTunes has a little known built-in internet radio client. This client gives you access to thousands of free Internet radio stations.
In this tutorial we will be showing you how to listen to Internet radio stations via iTunes. We will also be teaching you how to create Internet radio playlists that can be controlled via the Remote app on your iOS device.
Listening to Internet Radio – iTunes
To start, launch iTunes. Once it has completely launched, look towards the left-hand side of the window. You will see an option labeled Radio. Click on this option.
Look towards the center of the iTunes window. You will see different genres of music. To expand an option, simply click on the triangle that is located towards the left-hand side of the option. You can now select a station to listen to.
Controlling Internet Radio via Remote
Apple has developed an app called Remote for iOS. This free app allows you to remotely control your iTunes library via your iOS device. Unfortunately this app doesn’t allow you to make a list of your favorite Radio Stations. Luckily we’ve found an interesting work-around.
To start, make a new playlist in iTunes. To do this, simply look towards the bottom left hand corner of the iTunes window. You will see a button that looks like a plus symbol. Click on this button.
Drag-and-drop radio stations into this playlist. You can now access this playlist via the Remote app thus allowing you to control the radio stations in the playlist.
