I love using social network sites like Twitter and Facebook. But what I like even more is when I want to update my status, to be able to update them both at the same time. Up until now on my Mac, I could never find an app that would do just that for me. So for the time being I have been using Hootsuite to do this. Well, the other day I came across an app on the Mac App Store that I really liked that solved this problem for me. Let me show you Updatebar.
Updatebar is simply what it the name states. It is a menubar item that you can use to update your social networks. It is a very minimal app that just updates your status. But there is a little more to it. You can update your Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Identica.
You can create short links using is.gd or goog.gl. You also have the option to use your own custom link as well.
Other than that, there is not much else to the app. When you are sharing your status, you have the option of sharing it to all of your social networks or to just one or the other. Overall, it is a good app and it is out of the way and easy to access whenever I need to update my status. The one thing I wish it had was the option to drag and drop media for my post. For example, if I wanted to share a picture or a video on Twitter or Facebook, I wish I could just drag and drop the picture in the post. But, regardless, it is a good app and it does what I want it to do for the most part. You can get the app on the Mac App Store for $1.19. If you are constantly updating your status from your computer, I would highly encourage you to go and get this app.
