For a long time now, Google Pixel 2 users have been complaining about a particularly annoying issue with their phones. Some phones have problems with the panorama mode. Pictures taken in this mode seem to be blurry, low-quality and out of focus. This problem has been reported on Pixel 2 devices only, even though the bigger Pixel 2 XL has the same camera hardware.
The issue was first reported in November 2017 and Google acknowledged it. Even though Google recognized it as an issue and more than 9 months passed, the company did not release any updates to fix the issue. Panorama mode is used by thousands of people who want to capture a 360-degree view of their surroundings in high quality. Luckily, a fix has been released for this problem.
A user online has managed to create a fix to the blurry panorama issue on Google Pixel 2 devices. The user whose name is not known has published the fix on Google’s Issue Tracker page. He has provided before and after photos, and the after photo shows an increase in quality.
How To Fix Blurry Panorama Issue on Google Pixel 2
There are two methods that you can use to fix the blurry camera problem. The first method is through ADB commands, while the second method is by using a Magisk module.
Requirements
Method 1 – ADB commands
1. Make sure that you are rooted with Magisk so that “dm_verity/AVB2.0.” can be disabled.
2. Connect your phone to your computer, go the folder where the patch file is located, open CMD and enter the following commands in the same order as shown below:
adb push <<PATH_TO_DOWNLOADED_SO_FILE>> /data/local/tmp
adb shell mount -o remount,rw /vendor
adb shell cp /data/local/tmp/camera.msm8998.patch3.so /vendor/lib/hw
adb shell mv /vendor/lib/hw/camera.msm8998.so /vendor/lib/hw/camera.msm8998.old.so
adb shell mv /vendor/lib/hw/camera.msm8998.patch3.so /vendor/lib/hw/camera.msm8998.so
3. Restart your phone and you are good to go.
