How To Debrand T-Mobile OnePlus 6T Without Unlocking Bootloader [Remove Carrier Branding]

If you have a OnePlus 6T with T-Mobile carrier, you can remove the T-Mobile branding without having to unlock the bootloader. If you buy a smartphone in the U.S, especially one running Android, there is a good chance that the phone will be branded. A branded phone shows the carrier logo every time the phone boots up, and there are a number of carrier exclusive apps pre-installed in the phone. T-Mobile is one of those companies that does this. If you have bought the new OnePlus 6T, you have probably noticed the magenta boot up animation.

For most people, a carrier branding is not an issue. However, there are users who want a phone with no branding at all. The issue with this is that if you want to remove the logo and convert to an international ROM, you have to unlock the bootloader, a procedure which requires SIM unlock. SIM unlock is something that T-Mobile does not really like, and sometimes it is a hassle to do it on your phone.

Luckily, three developers have managed to create a way to debrand the OnePlus 6T T-Mobile firmware without having to unlock the bootloader. They have provided a guide where you can rebrand your OnePlus 6T with a locked bootloader.

Installation Guide

Step 1: Download all of the files from the link above. Install the Qualcomm drivers before you do anything else.

Step 2: Press and hold the power button. Tap on power off. This will power off your OnePlus 6T.

Step 3: Once the phone is off, press and hold the volume up and down buttons at the same time. Connect your phone to your PC while continuing to hold down the buttons.

Step 4: Extract the two patched flasher drivers to the same file where MsmDownloadTool is located. Double click on “MsmDownloadTool V4.0_factory_patched.exe” and click on the start button.

Step 5: The phone will start the patching process. Wait for the process to be over and restart your phone.

When you restart the phone, you will notice that there is no T-Mobile boot animation logo. This means that the patching process has been completed successfully. Now your OnePlus 6T is debranded, with a locked bootloader and no need for SIM unlock.
