At first, people thought that it was a hardware problem for the fact that the phone is water-resistant and dust proof but that has nothing to do with it because the body is not aluminum and WiFi signals can easily go through plastic materials.

Here are a few simple solutions to fix the problem on your Samsung Galaxy S5.

Solutions to fix Galaxy S5 Slow and dropping WiFi issue

Block internet access to applications. If many applications are connected to the internet at the same time, WiFi signal and internet speed will be very slow.

Even though you don’t see it, applications secretly download data in the background. This not only makes the internet speed slower but also uses a lot of data, especially when you are on 3G and 4G.

Remove the case. Most of cases do not impact WiFi signal and speed because they are made of TPU. But there are a few cases which are aluminum and these cases will noticeably slow down the performance. Metal doesn’t allow signals to reach the phone, making it difficult to get good signal.

Reset. If none of the options above work, it is time for a reset or format. Every time something doesn’t work, a reset will fix it for as long as it is related to software. To reset your Galaxy S5 go to Settings and open Backup and Reset. Tap on Factory Data Reset and select Reset device.

Another way is to make a reset through recovery mode. Boot your phone into recovery by pressing the Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time. In Recovery, select Wipe data and factory reset.
