It has definitely been a few interesting weeks for Apple. First the Chinese government decided to ban Apple services which included online books and movies from iTunes store. Then came the news that a Chinese court ruled that a local company that made leather merchandise can use the iPhone trademark name on its products.
We learned this morning that imagination technologies is trading 13% higher after a Chinese firm acquired 3% stake in it. This was the company that Apple was trying to acquire not too long ago as it was one of the leading suppliers of GPU’s for Apple.
So after the disappointing quarter sales, Tim Man has decided to pay a visit to the nation to make amend to the ties and hopefully get a little break from these constant problems.
Interestingly, this week, Digitimes reported that Apple was the top International smartphone vendor in China in quarter one with 13.5 million iPhones imported into China. Samsung was in second place with 7.2 million smartphones imported into China. There is definitely good news among all the hassles..
