iPad Apps Worth Checking Out

Apple announced this week that customers around the world made this holiday season the biggest ever for the App Store®, setting new records during the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s.

In the two weeks ending January 3, customers spent over $1.1 billion on apps and in-app purchases, setting back-to-back weekly records for traffic and purchases. January 1, 2016 marked the biggest day in App Store history with customers spending over $144 million. These include ipad apps as well as iphone apps. Here are some iPad apps worth checking out.

We will look at some of them from various common categories. We are not including the usual suspects like Netflix, Plex or Apple iMovie. Please let us know if there are other new iPad Apps that you find useful and are not reflected in this list.

  1. Hyperlapse (Free) – Video

With a 4 out 5 on the app store reviews, this app from Instagram allows you to create amazing time lapse videos. It allows you to share your videos seamlessly on Instagram and Facebook or save them to your camera roll. The Enlite app is another one that you should check out if you are interested in mobile photography.

  1. Todoist (Free) – Productivity

Although the native productivity apps on your iOS device provide some decent help, this app takes it to the next level when it comes to managing your to-do lists and collaborating with others on the items on your lists. Evernote is another app that can bolster your productivity skills.

  1. Freeletics (Free) – Fitness

There are so many different fitness apps out there made for people with different needs. If you are like me and hate going to gyms, this app is worth checking out. It allows you to use your body weight effectively for body weight exercises helping you to shed weight and gain core strength.

  1. Citymapper (Free) – Travel

If more travelling and checking out new places is a part of your new years resolution, this is an app definitely worth having when exploring transit opportunities in new cities. Uber is the other app that you may already have if you are not into public transport.

  1. ProCreate ($5.99) – Creative

if you were lucky to score an ipad pro over the Holidays, this app is worth every cent. This is one of the most powerful sketching and painting app out there that is meant for your iPad Pro.

  1. Yummly (Free) – Recipes

With a 4.9 out of 5 rating based on 6000+ reviews, this app tends to make you hungry. Not an app to open and explore during late nights. Yummly puts every recipe in the world in your pocket. The most powerful recipe search, the recipe sites you love, your digital recipe box, recipe recommendations just for you, and one-hour grocery delivery – all with you wherever you go. This is one of the best Apps to explore on your ipad.

  1. Air video ($2.99) – Utility

If you have storage issues on your ipad, this app comes to your aid. Air Video HD helps to stream movies from a PC or Mac, auto-encoding on-the-fly as necessary. There’s also full support for offline viewing, soft subtitles and AirPlay to an Apple TV.

  1. Elevate (Free) – Brain Fitness

You may have been swamped with ads from lumosity over the holidays. If you are looking to keep your brain active along with your body, check this app out. It aims to improve your writing, reading, speaking, listening and maths skills through a variety of daily challenges, which keep your brain active and test you in entertaining ways.

  1. Games

I think the App store has more games than any other app category. Picking one is a difficult ordeal. In 2015, Apple ranked Lara Croft Go and Fallout Shelter as their top games. Feel free to check these out if you are into gaming.

  1. Pacemaker (Free) – Music App

This app was one of the top ranked apps from 2015. If you are into creating music mix, this is one that is worth checking out. Pacemaker takes the effort out of mixing by adding the magic. Just pick your music from iTunes or Spotify, set your own transitions between tracks, hit play and get into the groove! It’s like having your own personal DJ on your wrist, back pocket or lap.
