iOS 7: Slow iPad, how to fix

A number of iPad users are reporting sluggish performance; acting slow, keep crashing / freezing frequently, lagging response; following the installation of iOS 7. Is your iPad running slow, then consider the tips below.


Free Up Some Storage


If your device is full, your iPad may experience slow performance  and crash from time to time.  If you have less than 500MB or 1GB of space left, free up some space by removing apps, deleting some of your content etc. Tap Settings > General > Usage to see how much “Storage” you have available on your device.

Update Your Apps


Tap App Store > Updates and check for app updates. If there are updates, update your apps. Alternatively, you can setup apps to update automatically. Simply tap Settings > iTunes & App Store and turn on “Updates”


Keep iOS Updated


Update your device to the latest version of iOS software. Go to Settings > General > Software Update. If there is an update available, please update your iPad.


Restart Your Device


Press and hold the on/off button until you see “slide to power off”. Slide  to power off your device. After your iPad has turned off, press and hold the on/off button until the Apple logo appears.If you can’t restart your device, reset your iPad by pressing and holding the on/off button and the Home button until you see the Apple logo.


Clear Your iPad Browser History, Cookies and Data


Simply tap Settings > Safari and tap “Clear History” and “Clear Cookies and Data”


Reset All Settings


Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. This will not delete any of your media or data but your settings will be gone.


Turn off Parallax Effect


To disable parallax in iOS 7, tap Settings > General > Accessibility and turn the “Reduce Motion” option on.
