New iPhone rumors: What is true?

It’s that time of year again: Apple should be launching a new iPhone model — still to be determined if it will be called the iPhone 5S or the iPhone 6 — this fall, and the whole world is abuzz with rumors of what the new model will be like. Always continuously improving upon itself, the iPhone makers are sure to bring some sweet surprises to consumers. Here’s a roundup of the top ideas floating around about what this new iPhone will be like:

1) The screen will be bigger

Yes, it always seems that the iPhone gets a little bit bigger and a little bit slimmer with each new model that makes the rounds. This time, new versions of both the iPhone and iPads will be bigger — some saying that this new iPhone will measure out to be more than 5 inches. Feeding into the tablet-obsessed era, Apple knows consumers like to have slim products, yet are always craving a little bit bigger of a space to swipe around on. The iPhone 5 is the biggest iPhone — and slimmest — to date, so it only makes sense that the next iPhone would be even more improved. Apple even asked its supplier for bigger screens for prototypes, reports say, a surefire sign that your new iPhone could take up a little more space in your pocket.

2) It will have IOS7

People love new software updates. IOS6 brought us lots of new options to choose from — panorama pictures, a do-not-disturb function, Apple Maps, etc. Of course, there are usually some bugs to work through in the initial phases, but the tech masters behind the iPhone usually sort them out quickly. That’s why even if IOS7 isn’t perfect at first, it’s sure to be a hit once all the kinks are worked out. It’s rumored to have a totally new redesign, including new fonts and app appearance. It will also have a new “Control Center” and a more functional and speedier browser. This Control Center will be somewhat of an all-inclusive one-stop shop for iPhone users, almost similar to the dash on MacBooks. IOS7 beta has already been out for test developers, and with the new iPhone, the public can finally get their hands on it. Luckily for us, IOS7 is said to become the new standard in phone operation systems.

3) It will have its best camera to date

Tired of carrying around a digital camera but still want quality photos? With the new iPhone, you’ll get just that. Its new camera is said to be a 12 megapixel, which is highly comparable to top-of-the-line cameras. Of course, this camera also doubles as a video camera. With such high quality, you’ll have multimedia heaven right in your pocket.

4) It may come in alternate colors

At first we were only used to seeing black iPhones. Then, with the release of the 4S, we got the white iPhone. This time around, we may get something totally new. While it’s not 100 percent confirmed (of course, none of the rumors truly are), it’s been speculated that this new batch of iPhones will come in more colors than ever, including a matte silver and gold. Even if those aren’t the exact two new colors offered, most sources can confirm it will have SOME two new colors. After all, Apple knows its consumers love variety.

5) It could have a bigger-and-better processor.

The current musings among iPhone lovers is that this new model may have an even more of a powerhouse processor with the A7 chip, rumored to be produced by Intel. Without getting too deep into the tech side, for us, this means better and faster, and hopefully we’ll see less crashing among apps and browsers as well.

6) A bigger battery may be in store.

Hallelujah! One of iPhone users’ biggest complaints about their devices is that the battery life can often be too short. It’s rumored that with this new iPhone, there will be a bigger battery, and subsequently, longer battery life. This may almost be necessary, too, because with the IOS7, the new iPhone is definitely going to need some extra juice to run at its streamline processes.

7) It truly isn’t going to be that much different than the iPhone 5

One of the biggest things to come out of the rumor swirl about this new iPhone is that it isn’t going to be drastically different than the last one. That seems to be the case between all the monumental ones – the 4 and the 5, specifically. We saw the iPhone 4S differ very little than the 4, other than new color, slightly upgraded camera and, admittedly a bigger change, Siri. But whether this new phone is called the 5S or the 6, one thing is for sure: It’s not going to be groundbreakingly different. The buzz so far has been pretty mild, but that’s not to say this new phone will be anything less than awesome. Apple has always met expectations with each new iPhone they roll out, and this one is sure to be no exception.

What’s true and what’s not? We won’t be 100 percent sure until the actual phone is unveiled, but this roundup of rumors is the best chance we have at making any sense of this new iPhone — but it’s always fun to keep guessing.
