Apple Looking To Cash In On Macbook Air

According to Digital Daily, the Macbook Air could become a 2.2 billion dollar revenue maker for Apple. And we are not talking over several years, we are talking 2.2 billion A year! How crazy is that? To think a Mac that started off so poorly and with such little fanfare, to turn it around and possibly become one of the most coveted Macʼs out there today. Iʼll be honest, if I didnʼt have a fairly new Macbook myself, I would definitely go out and get this Macbook Air. You see, the biggest problem with the original Air was the price. It started in the mid $1000 range. At that point there was no reason to get an Air. But with the current refresh, there was and still is plenty of reason to get this Macbook Air. Let me share some of the reasons why.

1. Better Redesign

One of the big things that made this new Macbook Air enticing was the fact that you now had different options for screen size. There is now an 11 inch and 13 inch model. They also took out any hard drive and replaced it with a flash drive to preserve space and battery life. Apple also put in a high resolution screen. In my opinion, Apple nailed it when they decided to come out with these versions. These are the sizes that the Macbook Air was made for. Apple actually made the Macbook Air the way it was supposed to be made from the beginning (more on this later).

2. Price

Like I mentioned earlier, what makes this Air even better is the price. When it was priced in the mid to high $1000, it made no sense to get one. I could get a great Macbook Pro for the same price or better. It made no sense to get an Air outside of the thinness. And to me, that wasnʼt worth the extra $200 or so. Now Apple has priced the Macbook Air more competitively with the Macbook and Macbook Pros. Yes, you still sacrifice speed and hard drive space, but what you get in return with the redesign makes it at least enticing to get.

I truly believe that these are the two biggest reasons why the Macbook Air has become so popular and could create a 2.2 billion dollar a year industry for Apple. They were finally able to get the “secondary” computer right. For most, this is a secondary computer, meaning that it wonʼt be your main computer. But what makes it even better is that it could even be your main computer if you wanted it to be. For most average computer users, the Macbook Air is perfectly fine and you could get away with using it as your main computer. This is a great computer for those that are always on the go and need a computer with them. It is also great for those that donʼt really want an iPad, but still like the flexibility of being able to take a computer with you any where.

I have tried both the 11 inch and 13 inch Macbook Air, and let me tell you, I was impressed. I without a doubt, would get the 11 inch. It is so compact and light, but doesnʼt lack anything. I could see the screen clearly and the battery life is amazing. My boss uses the 13 inch Macbook Air and he can go a whole 8 hr workday and not have to charge the battery. Now that is nice.

So if you are in the market for a secondary computer, or just want something light that you can take around every where, take a hard look at the Macbook Air, and throw out your conceived notions of what it used to be. This is one amazing computer, go and check it out and let us know what you think in the comments!
