The iPad was primarily built to consume content, not create it. It’s possible for it to do so, with Apple release the iWork apps, but it became apparent that the iPad isn’t the best at typing when Apple built in support for Bluetooth keyboards. So if you’re going to write the next great novel, or just type more than a paragraph or two, I’d advise you to use a bluetooth keyboard. So once you actually have the keyboard, in hand, you’ll need to go through the process to pair the keyboard with your iPad. (Just a note: I’m using the Apple branded Bluetooth keyboard, the process might change depending on your keyboard.)
- You’ll need to turn on bluetooth on the iPad. Go to settings, general, bluetooth, then switch bluetooth to “ON.”
- Then, you’ll need to turn on the keyboard.
- After that, your iPad will show a popup telling you to punch-in a set of numbers on the keyboard and then hit the enter/return key.
- Once you finish that, the name of your keyboard will appear on the devices list, tap the keyboard’s name, and you’re done!
Congratulations! You’ve connected a bluetooth keyboard to your iPad, now get to writing!
