Some users have reported an issue in iTunes 9.2.x in which the genre cannot be changed. Users experiencing this problem report that, after attempting to change the genre from the “Get Info” window, the field is blank and the changes do not stick.
Fix
This problem can generally be solved by converting ID3 tags to version 2.4, as follows:
- Select all songs
- Control-click (or right-click) and choose “Convert ID3 Tags”
- Choose to convert to version 2.4.
