Despite the fact that it quoted customers wait times of 3-5 weeks, Apple has begun to ship free cases offered through its program for iPhone 4 users affected by signal attentuation issues (see this article for a compilation of reviews and compatibility issues for the available free cases).
As shown in the screenshot below, Apple is shipping some cases (in this example, one of the company’s own black bumpers) only three days after July 23–the date when the iPhone App used to request cases was made available. These early-shipping cases are scheduled to be delivered by August 3.
