Earlier this week, we noted that the forthcoming Mac OS X 10.6.4 includes new IOUSB files that resolve the freezes/stalls under most circumstances. We expect this update to be released later this month.
Now Apple has apparently addressed the keyboard and mouse freeze/stall issues directly in Mac OS X 10.6.4 pre-release notes. The release notes also note fixes for the two other most-widespread Mac OS X 10.6.3 issues: inability to launch Photoshop CS3 and other Adobe CS3 applications, and SMB problems.
A post from World of Apple reports the following line items in the latest Mac OS X 10.6.4 pre-release notes:
- Resolve an issue that causes the keyboard or trackpad to become unresponsive
- Resolve an issue that may prevent some Adobe Creative Suite 3 applications from opening
- Address issues copying, renaming, or deleting files on SMB file servers
